The Paw Paw Pirates track and field team made a strong statement at the Jim Turbin Memorial Invitational held at Alumni Stadium in Keyser, finishing fifth in the girls’ standings and sixth in the boys’ competition among a field of eight schools.

Leading the charge for the Pirates was junior Shayla Tanouye, who delivered a dominant all-around performance in the girls’ division. Tanouye captured first place in both the 100-meter hurdles (16.48 PR) and 300-meter hurdles (48.30), set a meet- best mark in the long jump (15-08.00), and claimed second place in the high jump with a leap of 4-10.00. Her efforts accounted for a large portion of Paw Paw’s 56 team points.
