Thomas Dunham Grove
1946-2026
Thomas Dunham Grove, age 80, of Falling Waters, W.Va. passed away at home on Friday August 7, 2026, with his family present.
Born June 13, 1946 in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Dunham Biser Grove and Glenna Mariah Merica.
Tom was the third of four brothers. He married the love of his life, Nancy (Barnhart) Grove, and together they built a life, family, and loving marriage that lasted 57 years.
After graduating Berkeley Springs High School he was drafted into the Army. After serving his country he worked for Lockheed Aircraft and then transitioned into construction working for Leon Close as an electrician. He helped build many houses and apartment complexes in Morgan and Berkeley counties. Later he started working for Morgan County Board of Education where his hard work and dedication led to him becoming the county’s maintenance supervisor where he retired in 2008.
Tom enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid woodsman, where he loved the land and the beauty it brings. He was the last original surviving member of the Grove Lease Hunting Club. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 60.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting wood, woodworking, coin collecting, and reading. He loved his family and was a friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers M.R. (Ronnie) Grove, G. Edward (Ed) Grove, and Gregory (Greg aka Mustang) Grove.
He is survived by his loving wife Nancy (Barnhart) Grove, of Falling Waters, W.Va., his daughter Jill (Grove) Payne, his son-in-law Scott Payne, and two grandsons, Ethan Payne and Alexander Payne, all of Lincoln, Mass.
Visitation hour will be from 10-11 a.m. and a memorial service will be held Saturday, August 15, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 49 South Green Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. followed by a luncheon.
