Tom & Virginia Seely Foundation gives $262K to non-profits supporting local children

In a powerful testament to community engagement and philanthropy, the Tom & Virginia Seely Foundation has announced the awarding of $262,206 in grants to a range of local non-profit organizations devoted to supporting local children.

“This significant investment is set to foster hope, opportunity, and tangible improvements in the lives of countless young people across Morgan County,” said foundation officials.

The Tom & Virginia Seely Foundation has long focused its mission on the advancement and well-being of children.

Established in 1997 with the vision of creating lasting positive change, the Seely Foundation has made it its purpose to collaborate with organizations that directly impact children’s lives. Through strategic giving and active partnership, the Seely Foundation has been instrumental in shaping brighter futures for young people in need.

This year, the Foundation’s  grants were distributed among a diverse group of local non-profits, each selected for their proven dedication and impact in the realm of children’s services:

–Boys & Girls Club Morgan County Unit: Summer programs,  $10,000,

–CASA of the Eastern Panhandle: Expansion of Morgan County Permanency Program,  $10,000,

–Morgan County Starting Points/SCH: Mountain Movers Middle School program,  $10,000 and Morgan County Backpacks, $10,000

–Morgan Arts Council: Year-round youth arts programs, $10,000

–Morgan County Partnership: Too Good for Drugs & Botvin Life Skills, $10,000; and Positive Action & Too Good for Violence,   $10,000,

–Black Cat Music Cooperative: Director of Outreach & Development stipend, $10,000,

–Life or Drugs, Tri-State Support: Family preservation and reunification program,  $10,000,

–Brighter Horizons Kids Club: Safe and nurturing environment for children,  $10,000,

–Wind Dance Farm & Earth Education Center: Environmental education programs,  $8,450,

–Berkeley Springs High School: Weights for weight room $8,590; MC After 3 Expansion, $10,000; Classroom collaborative furniture, $2,900; Band instruments, $9,240; Cheer Squad safety equipment, $1,500; Football team equipment, $8,544; Track & Field Team equipment and repairs, $5,000 and Fishing Club safety equipment and competition expenses, $5,000,

–Pleasant View Elementary School: School-wide math coach $10,000

–Warm Springs Intermediate School: Third Grade math Reflex/Frax, $2,419 and Special Ed students field trip, $1,200,

–Warm Springs Middle School: Ceramics Room re-stock & ceramics club $10,000; Forensic Science Learning Labs, $260; Agriculture, woodworking and learning spaces $10,000, Band Instrument stands, $969 and Choir stage risers, $5,688,

–Morgan County Schools:  After school intervention program, $7,764,

–Morgan County Public Library: Children’s program at the library, $9,725,

–Paw Paw Public Library: Summer Reading Program,  $4,151

–Paw Paw Little League: Baseball equipment and gear, $4,500

–Morgan County Wellness Center: Youth recreation access scholarships, $6,400

–Bath Civic Trust: Support for portable ice-skating rink program, $5,000

–Morgan County Tennis Association: Youth tennis program equipment,  $1,970,

–Trinity Asbury UMC: Vacation Bible School, $2,500,

–Morgan County Parks & Recreation: School supplies for over 500 children, $8,121,

–Stepping Stones to a Brighter Future: Helping families survive domestic violence,  $7,000,

–Cacapon Resort State Park Foundation: Children’s Nature Programs & Holiday Celebrations, $2,600,

–Greenwood School Community Center, Inc.: Building improvements,  $2,715.
