For the first time in its lengthy tradition, the Morgan County Expo was held at the Ice House as well as Berkeley Springs State Park, with displays also housed at Hunter’s Hardware this past Saturday, July 27.
At different times over the years, the expo has been held at the high school, the senior center, and The Country Inn.
Exhibits submitted by local 4-H clubs and the public for judging focused on arts and crafts, as well as traditional life skills and hobbies, such as baking, canning, sewing, fishing, horticulture and animal husbandry.
The event included a cake auction at the Ice House to raise money for local 4-H clubs, such as the Settlers, Tuscarorians, and the Mighty Iroquois, to pay for club outings.
Hunter’s Hardware displayed the 4-H clubs’ projects in their store windows, a highlight of the expo, in its effort and creativity.
Most folks were at the park, enjoying a bounce house, free swimming at the pool, music, and vendors.
Morgan County Partnership, Life or Drugs and MC After 3 hosted Youth Art in the Park.
Black Cat Music Cooperative provided the entertainment, along with a live remote from Morgan County radio station 92.9 FM.
Meanwhile at the expo, the Morgan County Public Library was giving away gently used teen and children’s books and signing people up for library cards.
Two food trucks were parked near the courthouse, one served up large portions of country style ribs, wings and sides at old-fashioned prices.
Morgan County Expo is produced annually by the Morgan County Extension Office with volunteer support and is free and open to the public.
