Twila Ruth Payne
1917-2023
Twila Ruth Payne, 106, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born September 16, 1917, she was the daughter of the late James Stewart Johnson and Mary Jane (Michael) Johnson.
Twila was a homemaker and a member of Snyders Bible Chapel Church.
She is survived by sons Paul E. Payne, Jr. (Ruth), David J. “Joe” Payne (Sharon); seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren. Twila was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Emory Payne, Sr.; daughter Charlotte K. Dunham; brothers Gavin L. Johnson, George A. Johnson, Beverly S. Johnson; sisters Freda E. Ash, Reva P. Payne, Ramona C. Kesecker and Wanda E. Johnson; and son-in-law Wayne Dunham.
The family received friends on Sunday, December 17, 6-8 p.m., at the Brown Funeral Home. Services were held on Monday, December 18, at 11 a.m., at Snyders Bible Church. Interment was in Snyders Chapel Cemetery in Hedgesville.
