Frances Henry Cain
1929-2023
Frances Henry Cain, 93, of Falling Waters, went home to be with our Lord and Heavenly Father on Monday, November 6, 2023 while at home.
Born December 19, 1929 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. to the late Joseph Dean and Bessie Weber Henry.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Cain; and brother, Donald Henry. Frances was raised on the Henry farm. She was the valedictorian of the Berkeley Springs High School Class of 1948. While in school she met the love of her life – William “Bill” Cain, whom she soon married after graduating. They moved to Winchester, Va. where she began a retail career at JC Penney. They later moved to Falling Waters, W.Va., and Frances transferred to the Valley Mall JC Penney in Hagerstown, Md., where she later retired.
Frances was known as “Polly” by those close to her. She most enjoyed spending time with Bill and all their family, relatives, and friends. Polly is remembered for her kind, compassionate and sweet spirit. She was a good-natured soul who was a joy and a blessing to be with. She was very giving and had a special way of making everyone feel loved. She is known as “Mimi” to all her grandchildren. She had a special loving sweetness that she poured on her grandkids. In her later years she often said, “I have lived a good life. My only regret was losing Bill too soon.” They had 62 wonderful years of marriage. She is now reunited eternally with her husband who was her best friend. Frances will live on in the hearts of all she touched.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Shoemaker, and husband John of Berkeley Springs; grandchildren, Pamela (Gary Wachter) Didawick of Berkeley Springs, Barry (Denise) Shoemaker of Hedgesville; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Rider, Jay, Sophia, Austin, Ariella, Zebadiah, Tukoda and Adalina Didawick, and Hannah Shoemaker; great-great grandchild Haiden Mann.
Services and interment will be private.
