Russell Edward Borden
1947-2023
Russell Edward Borden, born September 23, 1947, passed away at Martinsburg VA on October 28, 2023.
Russell is preceded in death by his partner, Ronald F. Tarr on May 14, 2016, his father and mother,
Lorenzo D. Borden, Jr. and Margaret Borden.
He is survived by his brother, Lorenzo D. Borden III and sister, Isabella Meloro.
Russell was a corpsman in the U.S. Navy, serving in Richmond, Virginia. He graduated from Prince George’s Community College and worked at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., for several years. His focus was on individuals with addictions and mental health challenges. He helped people in Berkeley Springs overcome addiction and find a better life. He volunteered those talents and often had individuals referred to him by local providers.
He loved Berkeley Springs and was a strong supporter of the Hope House, the new women’s shelter.
Thank you to Dr. Coleman and all the amazing staff at the Martinsburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was very appreciative of their talent and they made certain he was never alone.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023 at Russell’s home, 483 Hickory Hollow Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Pastor Dick Voorhaar will officiate.
Burial will be private.
