OPINION: Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to you

You’re holding in your hands our biggest and most festive newspaper issue of the year. We think you’ll like it. Our usual front page has been replaced with a seasonal greeting – our annual Christmas card to readers and advertisers. You will find the traditional front page with headlines on the back page of this issue.

Many of the extra pages inside are filled with the thoughts of local children whose classrooms were invited to write for us this week. Their letters are earnest, funny and poignant – a little glimpse into what Christmas and wintertime means for today’s young people. You, our readers, will no doubt be inspired to look back into your own Christmas memories and wishes, and revel in the good ones.

As a reminder, The Morgan Messenger won’t publish a newspaper next week. It’s a longstanding tradition of the family-owned paper to give employees a break to enjoy the holiday and time with their own families. We’ll kick off 2023 with the January 4 issue on a regular deadline schedule.

We wish you a warm holiday season filled with good health, bright spirits and the people you treasure. A little snow might even add some sparkle this year.

We appreciate your readership now more than ever. With lots of choices to get your community information, we are glad you choose to pick up our newspaper each week. Our staff looks forward to bringing you interesting and relevant content in print and online in 2023 — our 130th year in print!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our Messenger family to yours!
