The Morgan County School Board held a special meeting on Monday, January 27 to consider the employment and evaluation of School Superintendent Kristen Tuttle.
Board president Aaron Close said Monday morning that the school board is looking forward to offering Tuttle a longer contract as superintendent. She was hired as an interim school chief last year.
The board is not going to advertise for the superintendent’s position and is going to retain Tuttle’s services, he said.
“We’ve been pleased with her efforts and abilities,” Close said.
Tuttle was hired on July 1, 2019 for one year as an interim superintendent following former Superintendent Erich May’s resignation. May resigned to take a superintendent’s position in northwestern Pennsylvania.
Close said last Thursday that the special meeting, which was held in executive session, pertained to Tuttle’s evaluation. Close noted that evaluations for superintendents whose contracts ended June 30 were required by the state to be done by March 1. He said that the special meeting would include discussion about the search for a long-term superintendent.
Close said the school board will consider Tuttle’s slated contract and the evaluation of her first eight months as superintendent at their second meeting in February and will issue a formal statement afterwards.
