Berkeley Springs studios bustle for local artists’ tour

by Lisa Schauer

With Fall foliage peaking and local artists hosting open houses for the annual Berkeley Springs studio tour, the town bustled with visitors over the weekend, October 24-25.

Sixteen artists were represented on the self-guided tour at eight studios, all within ten miles of town.

From the whimsical to the functional, handmade wares on display and for sale were created from a variety of mediums, including wood, iron, gems, clay, paint, and textiles.

Business was steady all day on Saturday, with more than 80 visitors, many spending money on artwork, said Cindy Boden with Turtle Cove Creations of Great Cacapon on Sunday morning, as more people filed in.

Berkeley Springs Studio Tour is organized by an independent group of local artists, many of whom are represented at the Ice House Artists Co-op Gallery.

The studio tour has been held annually for over 20 years, according to Boden, a member of the organization.
