Gilbert R. Russell
1931-2018
Gilbert Richard “Dick” Russell, 87, of Alto, N.M., died Wednesday, December 12, 2018.
He was born on September 8, 1931 at Confluence, Pa., he was the son of the late Reverend Clarence Gilbert and Ruth Richard Russell.
He was a 1949 graduate of Charles Town High School, Charles Town. He attended Shepherd College and Texas Western College in El Paso, Texas.
He worked at Chevron Oil Company and established Petro Travel Plazas throughout the United States.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served for four years.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Russell; four children, Nora Russell, Rosalee Ward, Kim Lagasse and Randy Goodall; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Eppinger, Winchester, Va. and Mary Jane “Jay” Russell, Berkeley Springs.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Wirth.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 in Ruidosa, N. M.
