Hundreds join local No Kings rally

by Lisa Schauer

Organizers of a local chapter of the Indivisible organization said roughly 400 people joined the No Kings rally on Saturday, March 28 at the Morgan County Courthouse.

The local event was part of a nationwide planned day of protest, one of 3,000 demonstrations that took place in all 50 states last Saturday, drawing over eight million people nationwide.

Along both sides of N. Washington Street from Fairfax to Liberty, people sat in camp chairs and stood holding signs in favor of democratic principles, against President Trump’s policies and against partisan extremism.

Some sang and played musical instruments, and a few stood by to observe or pass through.

Truckers and other motorists honked loudly every so often, while others drove by silently.
