David Hugh O’Brien
1942-2026
Dave grew up in Baltimore, Boca Raton, Fla. and Suffolk, Va. He moved back to Baltimore after high school. After serving in the military, Dave worked in the Baltimore shipyard and later owned and operated an antique store. He also helped establish Waverly Farmer’s Market.
Dave married, the love of his life, Kris in 1979 and moved to their log cabin in West Virginia in 1980. He and Kris became stewards of the land. He was a staunch supporter of environmental issues. Dave and Kris chose to live a low impact lifestyle on their land in Morgan County. They built O’Brien’s Cabins where for many years they hosted guests and led nature tours. Dave actively supported causes in support of caring for the environment and democracy.
He will be greatly missed by his family and his Berkeley Springs community.
Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Michael and Dennis.
