Dan K. Wiley, the National Commander of the American Legion visited the Berkeley Springs American Legion on Monday, March 9. He is on a tour of the nation’s legions.

A U.S. Air Force veteran, Commander Wiley is a strong advocate for The American Legion’s “Be the One” mission to prevent veteran suicide. He emphasizes inclusivity in the American Legion Family through the theme, “Better Together!”

In the Air Force, Wiley served with the 341st Strategic Missile Wing at Malmstrom Air Force Base, Great Falls, Montana. After his enlistment he became a lawyer and in time became a Kansas district court judge. He was elected Commander of the American Legion in August 2025. This adds to his 30 years as an active member of the American Legion.
