A new business opened recently on Valley Road in Berkeley Springs.
Mountain Momma Machinery offers monthly online auctions of heavy machinery, farm equipment, work trucks, trailers and campers.
Mini-excavators and tractors for sale on consignment start to fill the lot as auction time approaches on the last Wednesday of each month.
Buyers can view the models in person or online starting on Saturday prior to auction.
Pickups are on Thursday through Saturday after the auction.
Owner Maranda Peer says most items for sale are on the lot, but some sellers just send photos. Last month, 550 items were posted on the website for auction.
Bidding starts at one dollar. Just sign in, and you can get started. An app is also available for download.
Peer says Mountain Momma Machinery is here to serve the local community.
“We want to help sellers sell, and buyers buy, so they don’t have to leave the area, or go to Facebook Live, Craig’s List or something like that,” said Peer.
A certified automotive technician specializing in hot rod, collision and refinishing, among other areas, Peer defies the industry standard.
“It’s us girls out here,” she says with a smile.
Peer grew up around her dad’s new and used auto parts business in Mineral County.
She was answering the phone at 12 and picking up the “hot rod locator” from an early age, then taught her family how to use QuickBooks and post items online.
This spring, Mountain Momma Machinery will be hosting a live auction with online bidding simulcast at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 2 at Mineral County Fairgrounds.
As excitement built on the lot in Berkeley Springs for an upcoming auction, Mountain Momma Machinery welcomed guests with snacks and friendly greetings from the team, including Hank, the mascot dog, presiding over the office.
