Edward Truman Powers
1945-2025
Edward Truman Powers, 80, of Ridgeley, W.Va. went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio.
He was born September 6, 1945, at Spring Gap, W.Va. and was the son of the late Harold William Powers and Frances Lydia Manning Powers.
Mr. Powers was a boiler maker and a member of the Local 193 Boiler Makers Union in Baltimore, Md. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
His wife, Donna Jean (Kline) Powers, preceded him in death on July 15, 2010.
Surviving are one son, Marty Powers of Largent, W.Va.; one daughter, Lori Ann Woodal, and her husband, Scott, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Julie Dawn Zapf of Cumberland, Md.; one brother, Lewis K. Powers of Paw Paw; a special friend, Karen Smith of Paw Paw; the mother of his children, Betty Lou Powers Smelser of Great Cacapon, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Levi Woodal and Colby Woodal; two great-grandchildren, Sage Woodal and Wyatt Woodal; three step-grandchildren, Kayla Messick, Mariah Simmons and Raven Duvall and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Powers and Brownie Powers and one sister, Carolyn Covey.
The family received friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, November 18 at Kimble Funeral Home in Paw Paw. The family will also receive friends from 11-12 noon on Wednesday, November 19 at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, where a funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor David Kidwell and Timothy Swindell officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park in Cumberland, Md.
