Leon Neil Bohrer

Leon Neil Bohrer

1933-2025

Leon Neil Bohrer, 92, of Paw Paw, W.Va., went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. A husband of 72 years, a father of two, grandfather of three and a great-grandfather of seven, Leon’s loving devotion to family will live on for decades.

Born on April 26, 1933 in Paw Paw, W.Va., he was the son of the late Curtis and Margaret (Crouse) Bohrer. One of four children, his sister passed this summer and his brother Ronald died in 2023.

In 1953, Leon answered our nation’s call to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Drafted and serving honorably in France and elsewhere, he returned home to a young daughter and a job at CSX Railroad, where he worked until retirement in 1995.

While off duty, Leon enjoyed working on his farm land: building barns and fences, tending his goats, trimming his magnificent trees, planting flowers and walking through nature with young ones. As a hunter, gardener and a fisherman, Leon’s family enjoyed many meals resulting from his labor and generosity.

Leon is survived by his loyal wife of 72 years, Mary; his daughter, Diana Meyers; his son, Sheldon Bohrer and wife Sheila of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; grandsons, Nicholas Meyers and wife Sarah of Vienna, Va., Shad Meyers and wife Lindsay of LaVale, Md.; and granddaughter Shannell Duckwall and husband Eric of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Additionally, seven great-grandchildren ensure his family legacy in 2026 and beyond: Maren, Benjamin and Sienna Meyers along with Carter, Paislee, Sophie and Ellie Duckwall shared many laughs with Leon.

Leon was a proud member of American Legion Post 128 in Paw Paw bearing his family name of Harley Bohrer, where he joyfully celebrated his 90th birthday with his family. Leon was quick with a joke, serious when needed and a steadfast example of how to live for God and family.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 26, at 2 p.m. at McKee Funeral Home Chapel, Augusta, W.Va., with Pastor Robert Jeffreys officiating. Interment was in Salem Cemetery, Slanesville, W.Va.

All arrangements are handled by McKee Funeral Home, Augusta, W.Va.
