Ervin Smith Stotler
1935-2025
Ervin Smith “Buddy” Stotler, age 90, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Berkeley Springs Healthcare Center.
Born October 6, 1935 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Evie Smith and Mary Luella Stover Stotler.
He was a member of Highland Church where he served as assistant superintendent and trustee.
Buddy was a 1955 class graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
In earlier years he worked at Perry and A. C. Unger Canning Factories in Morgan County, W.Va., Virginia Woolen Mills in Winchester, Va., Harley Miller in Martinsburg, W.Va., Construction and Dawson’s Hardware in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Buddy retired in 1997 from the Cacapon State Park from the maintenance department.
He was a member of South Morgan Volunteer Fire Company where he served as past president, vice president and for many years served on the board.
Buddy enjoyed hunting and woodworking.
Buddy is survived by his stepchildren, Daniel William Golden of Winchester, Va. and Gloria Jean Roach of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one step grandson, Shannon Golden, two step granddaughters, Holly Yost and Deirdre Peck, four step great-grandchildren, Remington Yost, Landon Peck, Shawn Golden and Paige Golden and two step great-great-grandchildren, Kaine Golden and Kingston Rodgers and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Izetta Hovermale Stotler, one stepdaughter, Cathy Ann Miller, four sisters, Anna M. Heironimus, Edith L. Omps, Ruth V. Heironimus, Blanche L. Omps, one half-sister, Pearl Myerheffer and two infant sisters and two brothers, Melvin Stotler and Thomas Stotler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until service time. Pastor Kenny Mason will officiate. Private burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
