Cecil Sylvester McCumbee, Jr.

Cecil Sylvester “Dick” McCumbee, Jr., age 84, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at his home.
Born October 13, 1940 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Cecil S. McCumbee, Sr. and Mary Catherine Carlisle.
He attended schools in Morgan County.
He was a member of Wesleyan Chapel in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Dick was employed with Asplundh Tree Company and retired in 2005 as a general foreman.
He was a member of the Mountain State Cruisers, Jr. O.U.A.M. Council #117, and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483.
He enjoyed tinkering, antiques, antique cars, studying the Bible and drinking McDonald’s coffee.
Dick is survived by two sons, Troy Lee McCumbee and his wife, Sheryl and Tony Lee McCumbee, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., two sisters, Patricia Ann Hixon of Buck Valley, Pa. and Sherry Lee Pritchard of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., two brothers, Rusty Lee McCumbee and Terry Lee McCumbee, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., six grandchildren, Chrissy, Amanda, Sam, Tori, Billy and Dillon, and nine great-grandchildren, Delilah, Brayden, Mia, Jackson, Keegan, Davey, River, Sawyer and Ronan and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Linda Glendora Decker, and two brothers, Danny McCumbee and William H. “Butch” McCumbee.
A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Wesleyan Chapel, 76 Vernon Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Matthew Swope officiating. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV and one hour prior to the funeral from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
