Work on the U.S. 522 bridge over eastbound I-70 is about 75% complete, according to the MDOT website, and an estimated completion date is sometime in November of this year. Crews have completed the demolition of Stage 3 bridge deck, removed existing girders Stage 3, reconstructed abutments and pier caps, installed Stage 3 CFRP, and placed girders six through eight Stage 3. Work in September included torquing bolts in diaphragms Stage 3 and shooting girder elevations girders six through 8. Throughout the project, drivers have occasionally been diverted through Hancock at night or used detours while the bridge is closed.
The bridge over the Potomac River connecting to West Virginia is not involved in this project.
