The Berkeley Springs High School Lady Indians soccer team is gearing up for what promises to be an exciting season under the guidance of Head Coach Steve Havermale, who enters his seventh year leading the program and his 19th year in coaching overall.
With a strong core of returning players and an infusion of talented newcomers, the Lady Indians are aiming to elevate their game in 2025.
“We’re taking it one game at a time,” Havermale said. “Our players came into camp prepared, and that has allowed us to focus more on game play from the start. The chemistry and communication we’ve seen early on are at a higher level than in the past.”
Experience will be a major asset this season, as several key players return to anchor the lineup. The leadership of veteran players has been vital in welcoming new faces and building team unity. Havermale and his staff have set clear expectations, giving captains specific leadership tasks to help keep the team focused throughout the season.
The Lady Indians’ main goals are to capitalize on scoring opportunities, maintain strong defensive play, and continue building on their strengths as the season progresses.

Players to watch
Albani Cirigliano – A defensive standout with the versatility to play anywhere on the field.
Circe Powell – A key offensive player who brings speed and scoring ability to the attack.
Taylor Andrews – A dynamic midfielder whose ability to transition the ball will be critical to the team’s success.
Willow Rhoten – The Lady Indians’ goalkeeper, who has shown increased focus and drive heading into the season.
Havermale emphasized preparation during the offseason, giving players individual ball mastery and conditioning plans. The hard work paid off.
“We stressed being ready on day one, and they delivered,” Havermale said. “Because of that, we were able to start focusing on game strategy and execution much earlier.”
To stay competitive, the Lady Indians are emphasizing injury prevention with warmups designed to strengthen the core, ankles, and knees—areas most prone to injury in soccer.
With experience, depth, and a renewed sense of determination, the Lady Indians are ready to compete. Fans can expect a team that plays with heart, unity and focus every time they take the field.
