Pleasant View Community Center hosts first Cruise-in for a Cause

by Lisa Schauer

For the first time, Pleasant View Community Center hosted a Cruise-in for a Cause on Saturday, August 16 in Hedgesville. The cause was support of the Pleasant View Community Center, its building and programs.

Shiny hot rods, classic trucks, and antique cars were parked on the lawn for inspection on a sunny Saturday.

People visited under canopies and shade trees. Concessions and raffle items were available inside the community center.

A fleeting thunderstorm didn’t deter the diehards and gearheads from enjoying the day. Organizers are planning another cruise-in for the future.

Army veteran Cecil Potter, 88, of Hancock drove his 1959 Ford Skyliner to Hedgesville for the cruise-in on Saturday, August 16. Potter bought the Skyliner in 1981. He said it has its original interior and motor, with only rings and bearings replaced. A paint job is the only thing new on this original classic.
