In Loving Memory of
James Daniel “Danny” Flowers
November 27, 1958 – July 18, 2025
On July 18th, the earth lost a one-of-a-kind soul. James Daniel “Danny” Flowers rode his white horse to the heavens, leaving behind a legacy as bold, wild, and unforgettable as the life he lived.
Born on November 27, 1958, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Danny was the beloved son of the late James Elmer Flowers and Sandra Clark Flowers.
He spent his life rooted in family, tradition, and the great outdoors.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Flowers of Warfordsburg, Pa.; his three sons, James Adam Flowers (wife Amy), Daniel Brock Flowers (wife Holli), and Benjamin Victor Ray (Kristy). His pride and joy were his seven grandchildren: Dakota, Lilly, Hailey, James, Chloe, Xavier and Olivia. Danny also leaves behind his mother, Sandy Flowers, and four sisters whom he loved deeply: Janet Martinez, Linda Thomas, Lisa Johnson, and Christy Moriarty. He considered his brothers-in-law, Noe Martinez, Kenny Johnson, and Shawn Moriarty, more like brothers than in-laws. All were part of a close-knit family rooted in the Hancock area.
A proud member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, Danny never let go of his Native American heritage. He lived and breathed it every day. While others sought places of worship, Danny found his peace and prayers in the earth itself. Nature was his church. He spoke with ease and heart to anyone who’d listen, but his favorite conversations were about hunting, the outdoors, and rock ‘n’ roll.
Danny lived life like he was behind the wheel of a race car—no brakes, just a gas pedal, a slap shift, and the radio blasting. He was a free spirit, a fearless soul, and a man who made a lasting impression on everyone he met. A friend, a hero, and a legend in his own right.
For 47 years, Danny worked in the paving industry, operating heavy machinery with unmatched skill. If it had a key, Danny could run it. But beyond the job, it was his deep love for his family, and unstoppable energy that defined him most. Words can’t capture the depth of loss his loved ones feel, but we take comfort in knowing his spirit is still riding—free, wild, and heading home to be with his father, grandmother, and uncles who await him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2025, at Tonoloway Lake from 2-8. All are welcome to come share stories, laughter, and memories of a man who will never be forgotten.
