Bobby Thomas Farris
1934-2025
Bobby Thomas Farris, age 91, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at War Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility.
Born January 7, 1934 in Great Cacapon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Alonza Thomas and Nellie Elizabeth Farlow Farris.
He attended Mountain Top Ministries in Chambersburg, Pa. Bobby was a 1951 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.
He retired in 1989 from Mack Truck as a materials handler. After his retirement Bobby was the gardener and groundskeeper for The Country Inn. He and Ron Clatterbuck owned 2 race horses together.
Bobby enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, horse races and flower and vegetable gardening. He was most proud of his tulip gardens.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 70 years, Rita Maxine Parlette Farris, at home, four children, Beverly Ann Day (Roger) of Great Cacapon, W.Va., Lisa Ellen Fields (Kim) of Farmville, N.C., Rita Renee Harris (Timothy) and Mary Beth Farris, all of Berkeley Springs, W.Va, one sister, Carolyn Faye James of Stephens City, Va., 14 grandchildren, Matthew, Rebecca, Jonathan, Natasha, Haleigh, Monica, Elisha, Amanda, Chelsea, Jenzen, Jacob, Timothy, Erick and Breanna, 19 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheree Lynn Farris, two brothers, Carl Farris and Harry Farris, one infant sister and his friend, Becky Brouse.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Pastors Dave Kidwell and Steve Dawson officiated. Burial were in Mt. Nebo Cemetery. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. & 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
