At around midnight on Tuesday, June 10 police were dispatched to Cacapon Lodge Drive for a verbal disturbance called in by the state park’s superintendent, Scott Fortney.
Upon arrival, the officers observed a female detained in a police cruiser, according to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputy R.W. Diehl.
The woman, identified as Sarah A. Scott, 35, of Weirton, had started an altercation with a group of golfers at the lodge, according to the criminal complaint.
When Scott turned her aggression toward her aunt, Fortney intervened. Scott resisted, scratching the superintendent’s wrists and arms, and screaming obscenities, according to the criminal complaint. She was detained with assistance from another park employee.
Scott remains incarcerated at Eastern Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond for charges of domestic assault, obstructing an officer, and battery on an officer.
