The Morgan County School Board commended School Superintendent David Banks on a productive year after completing Banks’ annual evaluation at their March 27 meeting.
School board president Aaron Close said in a statement that they were eyeing continued growth and highlighted “significant progress across key strategic goals while emphasizing the district’s commitment to continuous improvement in student achievement and facility improvements.”

Close said additionally that, “Superintendent Banks has demonstrated strong leadership and a clear dedication to our students and staff. We are pleased to report that the primary goals set forth for this past year have been met, and in most areas exceeded expectations.”
The school board’s review of Banks’ year at the helm “focused heavily on the two top-priority goals related to student achievement. While the full scope of standardized test results is still being tabulated and analyzed, early indicators point to encouraging growth across math and reading.”
“We are seeing positive trends that suggest our instructional strategies and support systems are making a tangible difference,” President Aaron Close commented in his statement.
“This is a testament to the hard work of our educators and the leadership of Superintendent Banks and the staff of Morgan County Schools.”
Looking ahead, school board members recognized the opportunity to build upon this year’s successes, Close said.
“While we are proud of the progress our students are making, we believe there is always room to raise expectations and foster an even higher level of academic excellence,” President Close added. “We will continue to collaborate with Superintendent Banks to identify innovative ways, such as the middle school agricultural program addition and continued professional development through Instruction Empowerment to challenge our students and prepare them for future success.”
The third significant goal, which focuses on facility improvement, is poised to gain substantial momentum in the coming years, Close noted.
“The recently approved budget clearly reflects the Board’s unwavering commitment to maintaining and upgrading our county’s school facilities as a top priority,” said Close.
“I share the Board’s vision for continuous improvement and am eager to work with our entire school community to elevate expectations, enhance our learning environments, and ensure every student reaches their full potential,” said Superintendent Banks.
