Michael Charles Anderson

1951-2025

Michael Charles Anderson, 73, of Hancock Md., passed away Friday, May 30, 2025, peacefully at home with his children by his side, holding his hands.

Born June 4, 1951, he was the son of Charles “Bud” and Jemma Anderson.

Born and raised in Star Junction, Pa., he was a 1969 graduate of Frasier High School.

After graduation he moved to Hagerstown, Md. where he began a successful career in construction. He took great pride in his work and was very skillful at building homes.

But his real love in life was music, which led him to his wife. Together, they went on a musical journey singing and performing in several bands together, including the band Possum Holler. Music was his escape and his peace. He enjoyed listening to old records, writing his own music, and playing guitar. He has written and recorded two albums of his own.

He also enjoyed fishing and looked forward every year to going on a fishing trip with his childhood buddies.

He was a believer in Jesus. He enjoyed talking about his faith and believed that one day he would be with his wife again.

Known by his grandkids as a “jokester,” he enjoyed making people laugh. He was also generous and would help anybody in need.

He was most proud of his grandchildren. They were his true joy.

Michael is survived by his mother, Jemma Anderson; three children, Kayla Byrne (husband Zack Byrne), Dustin Beal (wife Angeline Beal), and Summer Widmyer (husband Tom Widmyer); eight grandchildren, Gracelyn, Isaac, and Hudson Byrne; Ava, Joe and Maria Beal; and Sienna and Hayden Widmyer; one brother, John Anderson (wife Judy Anderson); one sister, Kim Vrabel (husband Matt Vrabel); several nieces and nephews, and many other family members who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki Anderson; his daughter, Sierra Anderson; his father, Charles “Bud” Anderson, and his grandparents, Natale Sassi and Yolanda Sassi.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 1 p.m. at the Refuge Community Church, 33 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
