With the Bath Town Council election coming up on June 10, the deadline for candidates to file ended on Saturday, April 12.
The two-year positions will begin on July 1 and end on June 30,2027.
The candidates for the town council are as follows:
–Mayor: Greg Schene, a current Bath councilman is running unopposed.
–Town Recorder: Susan Webster, who currently holds the position is running unopposed.
–Council members: Eight people are running for five seats on the town council.
These four current council members running for reelection are Mary Lynn Hickey, Rebecca MacLeod,
David O’Connell and Elizabeth Skinner.
Also running for a council seat is Rob Campbell, Reba Dalson, Ryan Kessel and former Bath councilman Rick Weber.
Mayor Scott Merki who is not running for reelection said on Monday that it was time for him to step down and let someone else take over the responsibilities as mayor.
“I did my best,” he said.
Merki said he has served the town as councilman since 2006 and served as mayor since 2015.
Merki will continue to teach a HVAC course at Blue Ridge CTC on its Morgan County campus at The Pines in Berkeley Springs.
“I love it,” Merki said.
