M. Lenore Hannon
1932-2025
M. Lenore Hannon, age 92, of Winchester, Va. and formerly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Spring Arbor of Winchester while under the care of Blue Ridge Hospice.
Born September 8, 1932 at the King’s Daughter Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George Maurice and Helen Amelia Cage Kaetzel.
She was of Catholic faith.
In her youth, she was a remarkable artist and loved playing the violin and piano.
Lenore was a high school graduate and received her Associate’s Degree in Arts from Georgetown Visitation Junior College in Washington, D.C. She attended Visitation Academy of Frederick and Catholic University of America.
Lenore was a cattle farmer for 42 years where she took pride in raising her Black Angus and was an expert in animal husbandry. She also had race horses. Lenore was a member of several Cattlemen’s Association.
Lenore is survived by her children, John Patrick Hannon (Gene) of New York, Eric Robert Hannon (Patsy) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Adrienne Marie Hannon and David Byron Hannon (Patti), all of Virginia, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, three nephews, David Kaetzel (Charlotte) of Hawaii, Christopher Kaetzel (Debbie) of Idaho and Timothy Kaetzel (Kaye) of Virginia, one niece, Laura Kaetzel (Mark) of Connecticut and her lifelong childhood friend, Sylvia Nabuco.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Murray Kaetzel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 67 Liberty Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Rev. Fr. Daniel Price as celebrant. Burial will be in Greenway Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
