Filing for candidates in Bath town election begins April 1

The Town of Bath election filing dates for Mayor, Town Recorder and five council members are Tuesday, April 1 to Saturday, April 12.  A filing fee of $5 is required and forms are available at the Town Municipal Building at 271 Wilkes Street.

All candidates must be at least 18 years old and a Town resident for more than one year with no felony charges.

According to the Town website, a resident is someone that lives full time in the Town of Bath, who has real, or property tax assessed for the year preceding the election, is listed as a legal voter and has documentation such as a valid driver’s license as proof.

There is no monetary compensation for the town council positions, although state law allows for town officials to be paid.

The two-year positions begin on July 1, 2025 and ends June 30, 2026.

The Town election will be held on Tuesday, June 10. Early voting begins on Saturday, May 31 and ends Saturday, June 7.      The last day to register to vote is Tuesday, May 20.

The current positions are held by Scott Merki, Mayor; Susan Webster, Town Recorder; Mary Lynn Hickey, Rebecca MacLeod, David O’Connell, Greg Schene and Elizabeth Skinner as Town of Bath council members.
