The brightest young scientific minds from across the region gathered on Friday, February 7, at The West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind in Romney to compete in the annual Regional Science Fair.
Students from Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan and Pendleton counties showcased their innovative projects, hoping to advance to the state competition.
Morgan County students delivered an impressive performance, with several participants earning top placements. Emma Lyda of Warm Springs Intermediate School took home first place, securing her spot at the state competition, which will be held on March 10.

Other regional science fair winners from Morgan County included: Second Place Winners: Warm Springs Intermediate School – Korie Avey, Cohen Barton, Evan Orem; Warm Springs Middle School – Xander Davis; Berkeley Springs High School – Abigail Close and Paw Paw Schools – Joselyn Smith, Ray Cunningham, Lucy Carter. Third Place Winners: Warm Springs Intermediate School – Annistyn Zahnow, Henley Forney, Josephine Pennington and W arm Springs Middle School – Greyson Beckman, Joshua Lucas.
