Sleepy Creek Watershed Association is the recipient of a 2025 Stream Partners Grant in the amount of $4,525 from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, Conservation Agency, Division of Natural Resources and Division of Forestry.

Sleepy Creek Watershed Association plans to host an educational workshop series, covering topics such as rain barrel and composting bin installation and native plant riparian buffer restoration to slow runoff and protect stream health. They’ll guide tours of the water quality improvement projects that the association has implemented over the years to demonstrate how community involvement can protect and improve the watershed.
The group will also promote the Wild Yards program and encourage community residents to enhance wildlife habitat while slowing stormwater runoff and preventing pollutants from entering the stream, said grant organizers.
