Elizabeth “Betty Sue” Perry Kagey (Botkin)

1940-2025

Elizabeth “Betty Sue” Perry Kagey (Botkin), a beloved mother, grandmother and nurse, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, in Winchester, Va.

Born on June 22, 1940, in Alexandria, Va. She attended Washington Hospital Center and the University of Maryland where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Betty Sue lived a life marked by compassion and unwavering dedication to her family and community. As a devoted Christian with deep faith that guided her every action, she was known for her generosity and dedication to anyone in need.

Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her personal life; she spent over fifty years as a Registered Nurse, a calling she was passionate about.

She was an animal lover who loved to travel and spend time with her family.

Elizabeth is survived by two loving daughters, Teresa Oates and Linda Legge-Krippner (Kevin, Sr.). She embraced her role as stepmother with open arms to Beth Collins (Charles) and Polly Moore (Donald). Her legacy continues through an adoring group of grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who cherished their time with “Grandma” going to the beach, four wheeling, camping and other fun adventures.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Susan Botkin; husband, Harold Wayne Kagey, Sr.; second husband, Cecil Parker Perry, Jr.; first husband George T. Legge and brothers, Joseph and Gerald Botkin.

A memorial service will be held at Welltown United Methodist Church in Clear Brook, Va., on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2 p.m.
