County man charged in infant injury case

A Morgan County man has been charged with felony child abuse causing injury following an investigation by the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department into possible abuse of a five-month-old child.

According to a statement issued by Sheriff Johnnie Walter, Aiden L. Holle was charged on Monday, January 13 with the abuse charge and was placed in the Eastern Regional Jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond to await a hearing in the case.

Sheriff Walter reported that on Thursday, January 9, Cpl. J. Hedrick received a complaint regarding a possible child abuse in the Tri-Lake area of southern Morgan County. According to police, EMS was on the scene of an infant suffering from a seizure of unknown causes. After medical care at Winchester Medical Center, the child was transferred to Children’s National Hospital.

Cpl. Hedrick’s investigation led him to discover that the infant’s condition was suffered as a result of injury and “non-accidental trauma” consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Following an interview with the Holle, who is the father of the infant, Cpl. Hedrick charged him with felony child abuse causing injury.

Sheriff Walter said the child has since been released from the hospital and is in protective custody of the state with a foster family.
