Kirk Irvin Light
1951-2024
Kirk Irvin Light, age 73, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born July 8, 1951 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of Bruce Irvin and Mary Lea Harden Light.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Orleans Crossroads Community Church.
Kirk was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. He served with the United States Air Force from March 26, 1971 until his honorable discharge on March 25, 1975 and worked as a trackman for CSX Railroad. Kirk was a member the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employee’s, Inc., Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483. He was also a member and past master of Deford Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Martinsburg.
Kirk enjoyed fishing, hunting, mowing, cutting wood and gardening. He loved to travel especially to Amish Country and Blackwater Falls.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Dixie Lee Patton Light, at home, two children, Dr. Krista Lynn Hopkins and her husband, Brad of Martinsburg, W.Va. and David Bruce Light and his wife, Shannon of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one stepdaughter, Brandy Lynn Pryor of Hancock, Md., three sisters, Ella Lea Ritchie of Hollywood, Md., Janet Kay Light of Orleans, W.Va. and Anita Gail Hanline of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., one brother, Garnett Clifton Light and his wife, Barb of Geneva, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Abby, Jack, Jaden, Colby, Kinsey, Tyson and Layna, five step grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Rae Christenson Light, his second wife, Carol Sue Courtney Light and one brother, Melvin Leslie “Les” Light.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Dick Voorhaar officiating. Burial with graveside Masonic rites provided by Deford Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. and graveside military honors provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard will be in Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.
The family will receive from friends 1 p.m.-3 p.m. & 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 22, 2024 at the funeral home.
