R. Marie Bohrer

1937-2024

Ruby Marie Bohrer, 87, of Paw Paw, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Marie was born on January 28, 1937, in Greensboro, N.C., a daughter of the late Ralph B. and Ima L. Blackard Burke Wisner.

She was a 1956 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School.

Marie’s favorite talent was singing for the glory of God. She sang with the Light House Choraliers for eight years, the Wow Choir at the Victory Assembly of God in Winchester for 34 years where she helped the music director Lenny Burdick with music, designing and sewing costumes for the church musicals. Other hobbies that Marie enjoyed were vegetables and flower gardening, which she shared her bounty with all.

She enjoyed caring for her precious family and many neighborhood children, guiding them with love.

Marie married Donald D. “Don” Bohrer on June 10, 1956 in Great Cacapon for 64 years before his passing on September 11, 2020.

Surviving are her loving children: Sherida A. Smith and husband Rodney; Christopher D. Bohrer and wife Cheryl; David L. Bohrer and wife Christy, all of Paw Paw, W.Va.; three sisters: Sylvia Wachter (Leon) of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., Jenny Johnson (Ernie) of Bel Air, Md., Debbie Russell (David) of Abingdon, Md.; two brothers: Ralph B. Burke and wife Carol of Papillion, Neb., George R. Burke (Cathie) from Summit Point, W.Va.; five grandchildren: Pastor Chantel Herrel, Dexter Smith, Rebekah Smith, Megan Teets and Joshua Bohrer; two great-grandsons: Max and Ryan Smith; a great-granddaughter: Raya Teets and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a sister: Beverly L. Faith. A funeral service was held at the Lighthouse Assembly of God near Paw Paw, W.Va., on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 1 p.m. Officiating were Pastors Earl Travis and Lynn Burdick. Interment was in the Bohrer Family Cemetery near Paw Paw, W.Va.

All arrangements were by the Giffin Funeral Home and Crematory in Capon Bridge, W.Va.
