Luther H. Robertson
1922-2024
Luther H. Robertson, 102, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., went to his rest on November 14, 2024.
Lue was born August 17, 1922 in Lunenburg County, Va. He was the son of George Coley Robertson and Mary William Hill.
Lue and his high school sweetheart, Betty, were married in 1943. They bought a farm in Berkeley Springs in the late 1960’s.
Lue enjoyed gardening, being able to grow anything given to him. He enjoyed the hours spent mowing his lawn and taking care of his property.
After Betty’s passing in 2003, he found himself quite lonely. In 2004, he was introduced to Helen Riley. They were married for 9 years, before her passing in 2015.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William, George, Newton, Robert, and Odelle Robertson, sisters, Thelma, Mabel, Mozelle McGhinnis Kubas and Eva Barton, wife of 60 years, Elizabeth (Betty) McGhinnis and second wife, Helen Michael Riley. He was also preceded in death by daughter Karen Robertson Syfert, son-in-law Jim Syfert, daughter-in-law Frances Robertson and great grandson Eldrik Neverson.
He is survived and will sadly be missed by his children Linwood Robertson, Chattanooga, Tenn., Betty Robertson Leach (Riggs), Dallastown, Pa., sister Dorothy Arvin, Meherrin, Va. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Berkeley Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church with Matthew Haire officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkeley Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3606 Valley Road, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411, where he was a member for 40 years.
