Groups can “Deck the Meters” downtown; applications open for 80 spots

by Trish Rudder

Town of Bath Municipal Clerk Breauna Farris, who heads up the holiday parking meter decorations for the town again this year, said applications to participate in Deck the Meters are available.

The application package can be picked up at Town Hall at 271 Wilkes Street in Berkeley Springs or can be downloaded online at Townbath.org.

At the November 5 Bath Town Council meeting, Farris said the meter decorating may begin on Friday, November 29 and must be done by Saturday, December 7.

All decorations must be removed by Friday, December 27.

The application handout includes a rules and regulations sheet and a map that shows the available meters and locations.

80 meters to decorate

Farris said there are about 80 meters in town for decorating. The parking meters available include both sides of West Fairfax Street, the north side of East Fairfax Street, and both sides of North and South Washington streets.

Those not available because of Streetscape construction are the meters on both sides of East Independence Street.

And six meters on the south side of East Fairfax Street will be unavailable and reserved for the Bath Christmas Market event on December 13-15.

The meters on the south side of East Fairfax Street (from Mercer to Green streets) will be used for off and on-loading materials for the Bath Christmas Market beginning on December 12.
