Bypass construction has put a halt to through traffic on Johnsons Mill Road since last Monday, October 21. Local residents can still use the road, but have not been able to continue through the area where a level crossing is being built for the new bypass, roughly a mile east of U.S. 522.
Those who live further out Johnson’s Mill Road have been using New Hope or Waugh Road or other side roads to get beyond the bypass construction area.
West Virginia Division of Highways officials said the crossing work should be completed early this week, weather permitting, and traffic should be moving along the road once again by press time.
