Jettie Mae Johnson

1932-2024

Jettie Mae Johnson, 92, of Spruce Pine Hollow passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Berkeley Springs Health Care Center.

Born August 19, 1932 at the family’s Jones Spring home, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Hedges. Jettie grew up in Back Creek Valley and attended local schools.

She worked throughout her adult life, with many years of service at Interwoven Mills and Royce Hosiery.

Jettie was a long-time member of Michael’s Chapel United Methodist Church.

She loved taking bus trips, cooking, going out to eat, listening to bluegrass music, sunflowers and shopping.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Regina French (Steve); granddaughter, Cammy Rebuck (Tommy); and great granddaughter, Mollie Rebuck; a special sweetheart, Connor Greenfield; and a number of nieces and nephews. Close friends, Edie Fink and Audrey and Mac MacDonald will miss Jettie greatly.

Besides her parents and husband, Beverly Johnson, whom she married May 20 ,1950, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bill and Raymond Hedges; and sisters, Evelyn Sims and Hazel Whittington.

Graveside services were held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. Interment will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, near Sleepy Creek.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to be made to Faith Feeding Freedom, at 276 Amherst Lane, Falling Waters, WV 25419 in memory of Jettie. Contributions will go towards providing “Mawmaw’s sunflower bags” filled with comfort items for those in need in our community.
