Robert J. “Jeff” Palmer
1961-2024
Robert Jeffrey “Jeff” Palmer, 63, of Paw Paw, W.Va., died on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Jeff was born on June 25, 1961, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the son of the late Robert E. and Katherine E. Snopps Palmer.
Jeff was a graduate of Champion High School in Warren, Ohio.
He went on to teach at Paw Paw High School for 35 years and was the athletic director for over 25 years during his time there. Jeff was active with athletics, where he coached baseball, assisted his wife Holly with volleyball & basketball, filling in as the cross country coach for a year, operating the scores table at basketball & volleyball games and even announced the starting lineups for the Paw Paw Pirates.
He was a member of the Lions Club, Paw Paw Vol. Fire & Rescue, Board of Directors for the Mountaineer Community Health Center, a recorder for the Town of Paw Paw, and the treasurer for Sons of American Legion (SAL). Jeff was a lifetime member of The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA), The West Virginia Athletic Directors Association (WVADA), and The Counsel Exceptional Children (CEC).
Above all, Jeff had a love for West Virginia & Ohio State sports, Cleveland Browns, Guardians, and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Jeff married Holly Hendrickson on July 19, 2008 in Paw Paw, W.Va.
Surviving with his wife of 16 years are three step-daughters: Megan M. Hiett (Jason) and Tavia L. Hendrickson (Shain Keller) both of Paw Paw, W.Va.; and Hana G. Hendrickson (Tommy Mullins, Jr.) of Gore, Va.; a niece: Kristine Shaver (Randy) of Jane Lew, W.Va.; a nephew: Ian Shaver of Jane Lew, W.Va.; and four grandchildren: Remington, Forrest & Colton Hiett and Gracie Keller.
He is preceded in death by a brother: Gary E. Palmer; and a nephew: Jared Shaver.
A funeral service will be held at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church near Paw Paw, W.Va. on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Nathan Travis. Private interment will be held at Woodrow Cemetery near Paw Paw, W.Va. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 5-8 p.m.
