An apparent transformer malfunction preceded reports of a fire in the woods behind Widmyer Elementary on Monday, July 29 shortly before 5 p.m., bringing fire units from around the region to contain the blaze. Smoke was visible rising from Warm Springs Ridge behind the school as firefighting units responded. Fire moved up Warm Springs Ridge behind Widmyer Elementary on Monday, July 29. Fire companies got the blaze under control quickly and no structures were damaged. A video taken at the school playground prior to the fire shows a small explosion on an electrical pole near where the fire ignited brush.
