Kitty D. (Shriver) Hann
1938-2024
Kitty D. (Shriver) Hann, formerly of McConnellsburg, Pa., joined her husband Guy E. Hann in eternal rest on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Magnolias of Chambersburg, Pa.
Kitty was born to Thomas and Freeda Shriver in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., on April 2, 1938. She was especially fond of her paternal grandmother, Vallie Shriver, who made her home with the family in Berkeley Springs.
The family was then completed with the births of two younger sisters, Glendora “Dorie” Shriver and Carol Sue “Susie” (Shriver) Rexroad. In 1956, Kitty graduated as Salutatorian from Berkeley Springs High School where she enjoyed being a Cheerleader. At 18 years of age, she was recruited to work for the Dept. of the Navy in Washington, D.C., where she resided in an all-girl’s boarding house. She created lifelong friendships there. In 1960, Kitty married Guy E. Hann and transferred from the Dept. of the Navy to the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa. They both retired from Letterkenny after more than three decades of service.
Kitty was a member of the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church. Kitty traveled the world and attended auctions. Kitty had an exquisite collection of antique glassware. She also liked growing flowers and collecting Longaberger baskets.
Left to treasure her memory is her sister Dorie Shriver, Winchester, Va., and her children, Rodney Kress and Julie Rathman and their families, and her sister Susie Rexroad of Fairfax, Va., and her children Tim Rexroad and Krista Hunt and their families; nephews, Hervey Hann and wife Sandy, and Leon Hann and wife Sabrina, all of Warfordsburg, Pa.; nieces Cynthia Ketchums, Kathy McDaniel, Roberta Wambaugh and nephew Joseph Hann, all of McConnellsburg, Pa.
