David M. Henderson
1931-2024
David M. Henderson, 93, of Hancock, Md., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from the warmth of his daughter’s home.
Born May 3, 1931, at his home in Largent, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ernest W. Henderson and Huella Hicks Henderson.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 47 years, Cheryl Henderson, and his brothers Charlie, Frank, Jesse, and Merle Henderson.
He was a Christian, accepting Jesus Christ as his savior and becoming baptized in the Holy Spirit later in life.
Dave worked and retired from Fairchild and Rohr Industries after over a combined 44 years of service. He also worked in various local garages as an auto mechanic – a craft he honed and enjoyed under the direction of his brothers.
When he wasn’t working on cars, he was devoting his time as a husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, taking multiple car trips off the beaten path, enjoying the quiet moments on a porch swing with family, gardening, or sharing a good story about his younger days and brothers to the younger generation. He was a generous person, always putting family before himself, and a kind neighbor and friend to many as he always freely offered an unsolicited hand to those in need around him.
Dave was a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by many caring family members, including his daughter Cheryl Ann Jones and her husband Rob of Gloucester Point, Va.; two sons, David C. Henderson and partner Angie of Hancock, Md. and Dale W. Henderson and wife Kaylene of Needmore, Pa.; grandchildren Jayden and Olivia Jones of Gloucester Point, Va. and Garian Rice of Altoona, Pa.; and many beloved nieces, nephews and additional extended family.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date upon the inurnment of his ashes by his beloved wife at the Maddy Cemetery in Fallsburg, Ky.
Memorial contributions can be made to a local hospice of your choice as these ‘angels on earth’ assisted him during his last steps of his earthly journey.
