Ray Junior Kees

1941-2024

Ray Junior Kees, age 83, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville, W.Va.

Born June 10, 1941, in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late John Leroy and Chaffie Pearl Cain Kees.

Ray grew up along the banks of the Sleepy Creek in the New Hope area of Morgan County, W.Va.

He was the owner and operator of Ray’s Antiques. Later in life, he was also a gas pump attendant at Southern Belle Truck Stop.

Ray loved to hunt for the next bargain and enjoyed a good flea market. Ray also enjoyed hunting, and fishing in bass tournaments with his son.

He is survived by his beloved son, David Ray Kees and wife, Tammy, of Berkeley Springs; two grandchildren, Matthew Kees and his wife, Jennifer, of Berkeley Springs, and Christopher Kees and his wife, Carlin, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; one great-granddaughter, Rilynn Kees and three step great-grandchildren, Kayla Brigg, Thayne McGuire and Thoryn McGuire all of Berkeley Springs. Additionally, he is survived by his half-brother, John W. Kees of Martinsburg, WV along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his half-brother, Lloyd Bivens and his long-time companion, Barbara Perry.

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
