Vernon Dillon Bohrer
1938-2024
Vernon Dillon Bohrer, age 85, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born June 22, 1938 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Dillon and Lottie Wolfe Bohrer.
He was a member of Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren. Vernon attended schools in Morgan County.
He was owner-operator of Bohrer & Son Pulpwood and Logging.
Vernon was a member of the Alderton-Dawson Sons of the American Legion Post #60 and a 42 year member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 both in Berkeley Springs.
He enjoyed butchering, making apple butter and hunting.
Vernon is survived by his children, Ray Vernon “Buster” Bohrer and his wife Valerie and Tamela Anne Waugh, all of Berkeley Springs, one sister, Viola Bohrer Stevens, one brother, David Bohrer, two grandsons, Matheau Robert Arrowood and Ross Waugh, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Wilma Grove Bohrer on March 3, 2020 and one sister, Elsie Roach.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Harry Strite will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Bridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Hancock, Md.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral where a Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m.
A time of fellowship and refreshments will be served following the funeral service and committal prayers at the Berkeley Springs Moose Lodge #1483, 593 N. Washington Street, Berkeley Springs. Please enter the building on the Route 522 entrance when arriving.
