Robert Wade Unger
1947-2024
Robert Wade “Gumsey” Unger passed away on May 15, 2024 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle after a long journey with pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born June 23, 1947 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. to Bernard Wilson Unger and Genevieve Tolva (Kackley) Unger.
He attended Highland Church in his later years.
Robert retired from the Xerox Corporation as a technician.
Bob was a member and Past Master of Deford Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. in Berkeley Springs and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Robert is survived by his wife, Karen O. (Eaton) Unger, his son Robert Andrew Unger (Tammy), grandson, Jordan Andrew Unger, granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Unger, his sisters, Betty Lou Unger McBee Lord (Ken) and Jean Dodson (Jim), his loving in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Wilson Unger. Services will be private.
In his memory in lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
