Melvin Douglas Patton
1957-2024
Melvin Douglas “Doug” Patton, age 66, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born June 8, 1957 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Melvin Leroy and Lillian Pearl Wills Patton.
He was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School. Doug worked as a mechanic in the heavy machinery industry. He enjoyed playing his guitar and mandolin. Doug loved listening to Bluegrass music. He was lead singer for Red Moon, New Moon and All Grassed Up. Doug loved his grandchildren fiercely, along with his great nephew, Mitchell Shives.
Doug is survived by his son, Ryan Douglas Patton and his wife, Michelle. As well as his son, Joel Galen Patton, all of Berkeley Springs. Four sisters, Vickie Shives and her husband, Gary, Pam Lopp and her husband, Donnie, Donna Peck and her husband, Bob and Carla Swaim and her husband, Denny, all of Berkeley Springs. Three grandchildren, Austin, Alyssa and Alexis and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the family received friends from 2 p.m. until service time. Pastor Ron Faith officiated. Burial was private.
