1965-2024

Darren Lynn Barney, age 58, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., went home to be with Jesus and to sing in the Hallelujah Band on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born September 3, 1965 in Winchester, Va., he was the son of the late Robert Freddie and Mary Ruth Hull Barney.

He was a blood bought, Bible believing, born again follower of Jesus Christ and attended Wesleyan Chapel.

Darren was a 1983 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and received his certificate in electronics from James Rumsey Technical Institute in Martinsburg, W.Va. He was an actor playing the role of a truck driver. Darren and his wife, Anita were owner-operators of Ridge Runner Hauling LLC and was an entrepreneur in several other business adventures.

He was an avid conspiracy theorist. He enjoyed music, going fishing, going to the beach and collecting seashells.

Darren was an amazing husband, father and pappy and loved spending time with his family especially his grandsons.

Darren is survived by his wife, Anita Louise Stanley Barney, at home, two children, Victoria Keefer and her husband, Jeffery and Andrew Stotler and his wife, Lynette, all of Berkeley Springs, two grandsons, Remington James Stotler and Carson Nathanael Keefer and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the family received friends from 10 a.m. until service time. Pastor Matthew Swope officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.
