Students from all over West Virginia competed in the WV State Social Studies Fair at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center last Wednesday April 10.
In order to participate at the state level, students must have received a first-place award at both the county and regional levels.
Morgan County Schools was represented at the state fair by Abigail Close, Warm Springs Middle School 8th grader, and Jordan Unger, Berkeley Springs High School 9th grader.
Both Morgan County students placed at the state level.
Close received a third-place award for her State & Local Studies project, “Wild and Wonderful: The New River Gorge Bridge.”
Under also received a third-place award for his World History project, “History of Wrestling.”
The competition at the state fair is very intense as students must conduct a five-minute oral presentation about their research and conclusions supported by a visual display and written abstract.
